ABOUT THE ROLE

R+A Engineering is seeking a Professional Engineer with minimum 7 years experience to join our dynamic Okanagan office. You’ll be involved in the structural design of new buildings, renovations, seismic retrofits, and structural assessments, as well as report writing, and field reviews. As a small, dynamic firm, you will have the opportunity to wear many hats—jumping into everything from marketing to business operations alongside engineering. This role is based out of Vernon, BC.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

• Execute detailed structural designs in compliance with applicable codes and standards
• Collaborate with team members to create structural drawings, specifications, details, and calculations
• Leading project teams by reviewing and overseeing construction administration activities, including site reviews, RFIs, and design changes
• Work closely with architects ,contractors, and project teams to provide creative, practical, and buildable structural solutions that contribute to project success
• Represent R+A Engineering in meetings and with clients, maintaining a high level of professionalism

WHAT YOU OFFER

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering
• EGBC P. Eng or, immediate eligibility for registration with EGBC is required
• Minimum of 7 years of relevant structural engineering experience
• Structural design experience in concrete, steel, timber, and masonry with a solid understanding of seismic design concepts and BC building codes
• Experience using REVIT, FEM analysis software, and WOODWORKS/FORTE is an asset.
• Ability to conduct field work in large and complex sites
• Assist in the development of engineering scopes, costs, and schedules
• Quantify design concepts through detailed engineering analysis
• Valid BC Drivers License
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
